Gratitude

I know that it shouldn't take a holiday for me, or any of us really, to reflect on all that we have to be thankful for. In no particular order, here are some of the things I am grateful for:

- First and foremost, I am grateful for Kati. She's been at my side through this journey and has put up with way too much of my shit along the way. She keeps this family moving, and does not let me sit by and feel sorry for myself. I do not want to imagine the shit show I'd be without her.

- I'm grateful for Emma and Bryce. I'm grateful for their health. I'm grateful for the moments when they actually care for each other. I'm grateful that they still see me as their dad and not someone who is sick.

- I'm grateful that my mom and dad moved down to help in this fight. I'm grateful that they've been chauffering me to and from L&M, and let me nap a bit on the ride home.

- I'm grateful to have an amazing mother in law in Vicki. She's always treated me like a son, and has had to put up with more than her fair share of my bullshit. I'm especially grateful for helping me out with the iron.

- I'm grateful to have a brother and sister, in Pat and Lauren, who were willing to pull up some serious roots in Boston and move down here.

- I'm grateful to have in laws that have always accepted me, and now are just as accepting to the rest of my family. And I'm grateful that my entire family has stepped up and helped with our fight.

- I'm grateful for all the help Kati and I get with the girls and with meals, and with the million other things people have stepped up and done for us.

- I'm grateful for Liz Shuman who has helped show me what grace really looks like.

- I'm grateful to have the kind of friends that you might not see for a couple of months, but when you do hang out, its like nothing has changed.

- I'm grateful to live in such an amazing town as Madison. I am truly grateful for the love and support the town has shown me and my family. I'm grateful to know my girls will get to grow up here.

And this list is far from complete. Here's the thing, we've all got someone or something to be grateful for. Don't wait for a holiday, or worse getting sick, to reflect on what you are thankful or grateful for.
