Feeling Grateful

Bit of a humblebrag post, but bear with me. Its always fun to come home to unexpected packages, especially after one of those long days where the minutes pass like hours. Last week I came home to not one, but two awesome packages! One was from the Mastersons (hopefully Justin pull out the W tonight), and the other was from Head Coach Brad Stevens! The stuff they sent was awesome, but easily my favorite part was that both included hand written notes wishing me and my family well. Imagine that these two guys with all they have got going on, Masterson in the middle of the season, and Coach Stevens ramping up the C's offseason, took the time and effort to send me a note.
This coming week L&M Hospital is having a basket raffle to benefit me and my family. It was truly incredible, and humbling, to see the time and effort folks put into creating these baskets. I was fortunate to get to talk to some of the folks as they dropped off the baskets, giving me an opportunity to thank them in person. So if you are in the New London area next week, be sure to drop by and put a few tickets in the raffles. The prizes are awesome, but so are the people that are helping put the event together.
Throughout this journey I feel very fortunate to be able to see how much good people can do. Those who know me, know that I am hardly the optimist. But if there is some good that is to be gained from this, its that my eyes have been opened to see how good people can be and how they can come together to help someone, not for their own benefit, but to help. I may not always reply in a timely manner, but I do take time to read the cards, notes, emails, FB messages, and text. They all inspire me to fight and give me hope that someday we'll figure out how to end this disease.
